Youth Protection

Scouting America, Troop 85 and our charter organization recognize the importance of Youth Protection. Since Troop 85 is chartered by St. Luke parish we fall under the Archdiocese’s Decree on Child Protection, as well as Scouting America’s Youth Protection guidelines.

What are the requirements?

ALL Adults who spend an overnight or more than three hours a month at our meetings must complete a background check and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati SafeParish training with the archdiocese and keep up with periodic training bulletins. In addition, if you plan to go on outings, you must register as a leader with Scouts BSA, completing a background check and Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). Please contact the Committee Chair if you have questions.

How do I get trained?

Visit the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s SafeParish site for instructions on how to register for training.

The online Safeguarding Youth training course is a requirement for all registered adult leaders. This training can be taken or renewed at home.
