Shooting Sports and Wacky Games

Shooting Sports

Saturday morning, the scouts went out to the Range at Camp Birch to participate in the Range and Target Activities (archery, shotgun and/or rifle shooting) for the morning. A few scouts also went back to the Range in the Afternoon.

Wacky Games

In the afternoon, those scouts who didn’t go back to the range played Wacky Games, which consisted of four different scout skill challenges.

Orienteering

For the orienteering challenge, scouts had to walk a straight line for 50 steps, turn around, and walk back, all with a bag over their head.

Knots

For the knots challenge, scouts had to tie bowline knots around their waists.

Firebuilding

For the firebuilding challenge, scouts had to use traditional methods (actual flint and steel, not hot sparks that are marketed as flint and steel) to start fires.

Final Challenge

For the final challenge, scouts had to create a fire and use it to boil water.
