Survival Skills Campout

In May, the Troop went out to the Fallen Timbers campsite at Camp Birch for a Scout Skills campout. Unfortunately, due to extreme weather, we were unable to stay at the campsite for the first night. However, when we showed up on Saturday morning, we began a game of scout-themed Trivial Pursuit that took most of the day.

Citizenship

For the Citizenship Challenge, groups had to show that they knew how to fold the US flag.

Fitness

For the Fitness Challenge, groups had to do situps and pushups.

Cooking

For the Cooking Challenge, groups were challenged to cook spaghetti enough that they could tie a knot in it.

Leadership

The Leadership Challenge required scouts to pair up. One scout from each pair had an image that they were trying to communicate to their partner without showing it to them.

First Aid

The First Aid Challenge required groups to create a shelter for an injured person so that they could hold out for emergency services to arrive.

Tools

For the Tools Challenge, the groups were challenged to hang a bear bag over a tree.

Final Challenge

For the Final Challenge, groups were challenged to use lashings to lift a small toy out of the axeyard without dropping it. The Flaming Arrows/Red-Eyed Ravens Group was the first one to complete the Final Challenge, so they won the game.
