For Klondike 2014, 6 BSA Troop 85 boy scouts and 2 adult leaders went to a Winter Camporee event at Camp Miakonda, near Toledo, OH from 17-19 January. Matt M., Michael B, John Paul B, Michael P, Jordan H, and Christopher H went on the trip, with Jordan as senior patrol leader and Chris as a patrol leader. Klondike is an event where, using supplies brought with them by sled, Boy Scout patrols complete certain events relating to scouting skills. Some events include fire building/cooking, first aid, compass, woodcraft, and knots/pioneering. Our troop did well overall. In addition to the event, they also stayed overnight, and camped in below-freezing temperatures. Brrrr. Many thanks to Mr. Madsen and Mr. Price for being the adult leaders!
