Catholic Camporee 2023

Every November, Troop 85 does a Catholic retreat called Catholic camporee. This year the camporee included a first aid challenge, leadership games, a vocations panel, Mass, and adoration. We also earned an adoration patch.

The first aid challenge involved a punture wound from an arrow and CPR required for someone who hit his head on a rock.

Then we had a session where we earned the adoration patch. To earn the patch Mr. Heaton, who was running the camporee, gave a presentation containing information on adoration, we prayed the rosary, and participated in adoration.

During one of the leadership games, the patrol leader was guiding the other members of their patrol, who were blindfolded, through a maze of stakes and bells. Your team got one point for every person who got through and lost one point each time a bell rang. During the other game, there was a tray of pieces. The team got 1 minute to look at the tray. After the minute was up, they wrote down as many things as they could remember.

After the leadership games we had lunch then a movie and a vocation panel. A vocation panel is where people called to different vocations talk about their vocation stories. Then, the audience can ask questions. After the vocation panel, we ate dinner, said evening prayer, and then had Mass. Our chaplain aide was one of the lectors at the Mass. After Mass we did adoration.
